I give you this simple gift of new socks
'cause I saw you wearing an odd pair the other day
but please don't change, stay unorthodox
just mix up the new pairs in your own quirky way.
I'm sorry they aren't a bit more funky
but by the time I saw some with a smarter design
I'd already bought these. They may be tweedy and chunky
but in a cold climate, sensible socks are a fine
fashion statement. I had thought
of buying the other socks as well as these
but that might overwhelm you with socks and I ought
to take it easy. But if it would please
you, let me remove these socks in the glow
of the fire and massage you gently from heel to toe.
